Gold Strike Goldens
Gold Strike Goldens is located in the Southwest, USA. We take our golden retrievers to 4H dog shows, AKC dog shows in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. We are a member of a local dog club-Durango Kennel Club, and the local 4H Pooch Patrol. We have learned a lot about golden retrievers over the years and still learning. We got our first golden retriever puppy in 1990.
Golden retrievers are a great family dog, hunting/retrieving dog, obediece, therapy, agility or show dog. Sugar has been learning agility and focusing on obedience. Lucky is focusing on obedience and expecting a litter in February 2008. Gunner is our all around excellent show, family dog. He placed 2nd in the Sporting Group in 2006 at Roswell. In 2008 he will be going to AKC dog shows again.
Gold Strike Goldens is dedicated to the improvement the golden retriever. All of our dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club. Go to the puppy page to read more information about us and our puppies.
Golden Retrievers originated in the 1860s in Great Britain. To begin the breed, Lord Tweedmouth mated a yellow wavy-coated retriever to a Tweed Water Spaniel. The resulting litter produced the foundation stock, with a number of outcrosses, from which all of today's Golden Retrievers descend. Goldens were first brought to North America in the late 1890s and were first registered by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1925. Goldens are noted for their gentle, loving dispositions and are an excellent breed for families with children. The Golden's desire to please humans is legendary-making him a top obedience competitor and a first-rate companion dog.
